Adam Puchta Winery is the oldest family-run winery in Missouri, owned and continuously operated by the same family since 1855. Tim Puchta has ownership of the winery now, the fifth generation of his family to make wine. Portraits of the former generations hang in the gift shop, and the salesroom guides are happy to share the Puchta story with visitors.
The winery is small and scenic, nestled among farmland off of Hwy 100 two miles southwest of Hermann. A Jack Russell terrier and a few cats mill about and like to mingle with visitors. There are outdoor tables to sit and enjoy some wine and a homemade snack from the winery’s little Bistro. Bands come and play in the summer; check the website for dates and times. The wine is very good and the Puchtas make exceptional fruit wine, too. Their Jazz Berry (raspberry and white wine) and Berry Black (blackberry and white wine) wines are delicious! Salesroom manager Charlene said those are good to put over ice cream.
