Hermann Hill 3 Mile Walk
The 3-Mile Walk has become a tradition for many of our guests staying at Hermann Hill.
It begins and ends at the boutique hotel and includes a detailed map that provides interesting, historic information as you walk through town. The first 300 feet is a gravel path through the woods, and the rest of the walk is on streets and alleys. While some guests complete the walk in one hour, others take more time to include a winery tour, lunch, shopping, and perhaps a stop at one of the fine museums or other historic venues along the way. No matter how long you decide to take during your walk, be sure to come by our gift shop to receive your free “I conquered the Hermann Hill 3-Mile Walk” t-shirt.
Bike the Katy Trail
Park your car at the south end of the Missouri River Bridge and let us shuttle you and your bikes over to the Katy Trail!
Take a leisurely ride back and stop for lunch at The Corner Restaurant in Rhineland.
(Note: Our shuttle service is not available upon demand and must be prearranged with the Front Desk).
Driving Scavenger Hunts
Our Scavenger Hunts are a fun way to explore the town, and you’ll even be rewarded for your time. Just ask our staff for a map and details, then you can be on your way.

There are 23 area restaurants. We continually poll our guests, and their current top four favorites are Vintage Restaurant at Stone Hill, known for its German specialties, Fernweh Restaurant, known for its craft cocktails and smoked meats, Tin Mill, known for its steaks, and Doxie Slush known for adult slushies and coastal eats.
There are nine area wineries, five distilleries, and two breweries within a 15-mile radius of Hermann. Our guests tell us that the most popular wineries are Stone Hill, Hermannhof, and Adam Puchta. Tin Mill Brewery has a good selection of craft beers that are quite popular. Pickney Bend has one of the best distillery tours.

Grape growing and wine making in Hermann and the surrounding countryside has been ongoing since the arrival of the first German settlers in the early 1800s. Hermann has been in the forefront of the Missouri wine industry since 1837, a year after the town was founded. So, it’s no surprise that our guests tell us that visiting Hermann’s award-winning wineries is part of their tradition when staying at Hermann Hill. We think you should try the Norton and Vignoles variety at each of the local wineries to compare different finishes of the same locally grown grapes.
