Endless adventures surround our luxury boutique hotel, plus the opportunity to experience the best views near Hermann, MO. Between natural vistas, outlooks over vineyards, and unique sights at state parks, these picturesque views are sure to take your breath away.
Grand Bluffs
One of our favorite views to enjoy near Hermann, MO, is the Grand Bluffs. The drive from the Inn is only 20 minutes, and once you arrive, you can take in the forest views along the Scenic Overlook trail. The trail will lead you to the deck atop the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. The Grand Bluffs are aptly named – the cliffside is 300 feet tall, making them some of the steepest cliffs along the Missouri River. It’s a fantastic spot for a picnic, bird-watching, hiking, and photography. In addition to the breathtaking view of the river, you may also see geese, turkey vultures, swallows, and other wildlife.
Stone Hill Winery
If you’re looking for an excellent view paired with live music and delicious food and wine, the Stone Hill Winery is the perfect spot. Only three minutes from our boutique hotel, the Stone Hill Winery sits atop the hills overlooking the city, miles of luscious grape vines, and the vineyards’ historic buildings. It is the nation’s second-largest winery, and they’ve been featured in BBC, The New York Times, Forbes, and more!
Initially founded in 1874 by German Immigrants, the original winery barn houses The Vintage 1874 Restaurant, which serves German specialties like schweineschnitzel (as well as American favorites) as an homage to the winery’s heritage. Come by for live music and a wine tasting, have dinner at the restaurant, or order food to go and delight in a picnic with a view to remember.
Graham Cave State Park
This view is different from your typical overlook. Instead of looking down at a river or vineyards, peer up in awe at this massive cave which will pique your curiosity. In addition to being a sight to behold, the cave is also a dig site where archaeologists discovered artifacts left behind by the cave’s ancient occupants who sheltered in this region over 10,000 years ago.
Due to the blend of diverse lands, such as rocky forests and glades, the area also attracts abundant wildlife, including deer, beavers, and native plants like the prickly pear cactus and purple prairie clover. Check out our Graham Cave State Park blog post to learn more. It’s about a 35-minute drive from the hotel.
