The Bank bar on Schiller St. opened two months ago and provides Hermann with a different nightlife option than the other noisy, crowded bars downtown. The Bank is a quieter, classier place you can go for an after-dinner drink or to enjoy a cocktail in the evening on the outdoor patio. The bar offers the local Tin Mill beers and local wines, as well as imported wine and beer and virtually every liquor you could ask for. The Bank brings in live music a couple nights a week – usually Fridays and one weeknight – but it’s not overly loud and makes a nice atmosphere. Before I was able to make it in for a drink, I often thought how inviting the simple, historic building looks as a passerby; the doors are left open to the street and the lounge music playing inside is projected under the portico. I found it to be just as relaxing and nice on the inside as it seemed to be from the sidewalk. I enjoyed my drink at The Bank and I recommend it to visitors looking for a lowkey place to unwind at the end of the day.
