I’m a ‘feine fiend, so naturally I was scoping out coffee places the very first time I drove through town. Hermann really takes its coffee seriously and Time for Pie at Schiller & 4th St. is one of the best. Time for Pie has got the biggest selection of drinks and food, and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious. They serve all sorts of coffee and espresso drinks, smoothies, energy drinks and juices. Of course, they are known for their pie; I heard about their pie from some friends before I even moved to Hermann. You can buy it by the slice or by the whole pie, and you can also get it with ice cream on top. Besides pie, their homemade breakfast pastries are very good with coffee, and they also serve soup and brats for lunch.
Time for Pie is decorated to make you feel at home, with newspapers and a library full of books over in a corner that you can look at and take with you if you want. The owners – Jo and John Humason – are very nice and they like chatting with their customers. Good pie, good coffee and nice people; it’s a good way to spend a morning…or an afternoon.
