The Eitzen Home at 214 Wharf St. was built in 1855 by Charles Eitzen. This elegant home has a six-foot wide staircase because, it is said, Mr. Eitzen liked to carry his children upstairs to bed and did not want their head or feet to bump the wall or banister.
