The three story brick building at 206 Wharf St. was constructed
in the 1840s. Part of the lot was sold to Charles Eitzen,
Hermann's benefactor. He was a steamboat agent and ran a store
at this location, making a fortune trading in iron ore and white
pine lumber that was hauled from southern Missouri along the Old
Iron Road. In later years the building served as a Masonic Hall.
Currently it is a private residence.
