|The mother-daughter team of Lee Ann Molyneux and Angie Faerber has operated Seasonal Treasures since September 1999 in the building the Molyneuxs purchased at 226 E. First St. in downtown Hermann. When no renter came along, on a whim, the two women decided to open a shop of their own. Within a month they were in business.
The "something for everyone" shop has evolved through the years. At first, most of the inventory came from "stuff we had at home," said Angie. Since then, new lines of merchandise have been introduced. Not all the inventory is new, however. Lee Ann loves to go to auctions, much to her daughter's dismay. She said that Angie gets mad when she receives a call from Lee Ann telling her to "come with your truck."
There is so much to see at the shop that customers must allow plenty of time to take it all in.
The eclectic mix of merchandise includes vintage jewelry, Zoppini Italian charms (more than 300 are in stock), boutique items like scarves and purses, Watkins products, O'Neill Brothers CDs, wedding and christening gifts, picture frames, and greeting cards. A kids corner has books, dolls and stuffed animals, an antiques room includes many quilts, a men's corner features John Deere and lodge décor, and one entire room is devoted to Christmas items. Hermann-made items include soy-based candles, handmade cedar walking sticks, refrigerator magnets, and tree ornaments. They also carry foodstuffs like mustards, pickles, jams, and Nuwati herbal teas. And, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Thanks to their flexible schedules, Lee Ann and Angie keep Seasonal Treasures open daily, year-round from 10-4. For information about the shop call 573-486-0803.
