Hermann's Calendar of Events

Dear [fname],

fredIn Memoriam: A Tribute to Fred

All of us at Hermann Hill are in mourning for Fred, our loving and faithful companion who died May 4. For eight happy years, Fred greeted guests, offered to share his toys, mooched treats, and longed (in vain) for the day when he would be allowed guide guests on the three-mile walk.

Our remaining lab Gracie misses her best friend, but she won’t be lonely for long. A new puppy—a male black/chocolate lab mix—will be coming home to the Inn in about three weeks.

Needless to say, there's been much discussion among guests about what to name the new puppy. Please send us your ideas in an email with " puppy name” in the subject line.

Mid-week stays at Hermann Hill come with great bonuses this month.

Guests staying two or more week nights (Sunday-Thursday) now through the end of May will receive $20 in Hermann Bucks to spend like cash at local wineries, restaurants, and shops. In addition, we've put together an interesting menu of extras for mid-week guests to choose from, depending on the length of stay. (Two-nights—pick one, three-nights—pick two, four-nights—pick four, five-nights—pick four)

  • An additional $20 in Hermann Bucks
  • A $50 Hermann Hill gift certificate (no restrictions or expiration date)
  • Two bottles of our signature Port Chocolate Raspberry Sauce
  • $30 toward an en suite massage with Massage for your Health
  • Brat Grilling Package with all the fixings for a cook-out on your Cottage deck, including a basting brush and mug.

There's more good news . . .

  • Through our popular Frequent Stay program, guests who earn 10 credits (each night's stay equals one credit) receive a gift certificate equal to 10 percent of what they've spent. That usually means their eleventh night is free.
  • Rooms rates at the Inn will be lower in 2012. Guests who make a "Same Time Next Year" Inn reservation will receive a $50 gift certificate. New rates are posted on our web site.

Last month's "threads" winners celebrated the season of new life.

Arthur and Sheryl of Columbia, Missouri, write . . .  I sing the body electric, I celebrate what I have become. I sing the body electric, when I am at peace with the sun. Those words of Walt Whitman capture the essence of our celebration, as we shed the old skin of winter once again. We like coming to Hermann Hill to celebrate the lenten and Easter seasons of new new life. Hermann Hill is certainly no monastery, but it is a sanctuary of sanity where a sunrise, a soaring hawk, a glowing fire in the hearth, or bread, wine, and cheese make us feel very much alive in our own ritual reminder of rebirth and new possibilities of being.

Amy and Alix of St. Louis write . . . It was such a joy to be back! Hermann Hill made our first anniversary celebration so romantic and special.  It rained most of the time but we didn't care. We curled up and listened to the thunder as we watched the river rush by our deck. We also celebrated another huge moment—Alix felt our baby kick for the first time!
