Dear Guests & Friends,
If a picture is worth a thousand words, our in-room
journals speak volumes.
Many Hermann Hill
guests have drawn
pictures to accompany their written diary entries. Until we started
preparing this issue of our newsletter, we had no idea how many talented people
stay with us. |
|
Recently, we asked several of
our guests to go through the journals and select their favorite drawings. We
contacted the artists for permission to use their artwork, and now we want to
share them with our readers.

Rooms with
a view . . .
All of the
guestrooms at Hermann Hill
offer spectacular views of the City of Hermann and many of its landmarks.
Two of the most documented in our journals are
St. Paul United
Church of Christ and St. George Catholic Church with the Missouri River in
the background. They are captured in the drawings contributed by the
Petersens of Anamosa, Iowa and Cynthia
Baragona of Slidell, Louisiana. |

Kathy Marlin |
Communing
with nature. . .
We do not know what inspired
Kathy Marlin of Keokuk, Iowa to draw these deer, but they are among the
wildlife frequently seen around Hermann Hill Inn and our vineyards.
Perhaps she took the
three-mile walk and noticed them as she walked through the woods on the
north side of the inn. |
Celebrating
Hermann's heritage . . .
Mike
DeVlieger and his wife Laura of St. Louis stayed with us during
last
year's
Maifest, which has been an annual event here
since 1952. Among his drawings portraying Hermann, Mike included the Maifest
parade as it traveled through the downtown historic district. It follows a
portion of the route in our
three-mile walk. |

The Kellers |
The three
R's . . .
According to our guests' journal entries,
at Hermann Hill the three R's don't stand for the reading, 'riting,
and 'rithmetic. They stand for romance, renewal and
relaxation. These three R's are depicted in the drawings
created by Dennis and Lisa Keller and Jerry and Terrie
Lammers, all of the St. Louis area. |
|
Thank you .
. .
As Pablo Picasso said, "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary." Thanks to all of our guests
who have contributed artwork, and kind words, to our diaries through the years. |
