Christmas in Hermann, Missouri
at Hermann Hill
This is the time of year
we've been waiting for--a season for visiting with friends and family and for
creating new traditions with new memories to cherish. As soon as the snow frosts
the rooftops in Hermann Missouri, Hermann Hill begins to decorate. When
Christmas comes to Hermann and warms the icy landscape, the imprint is
everywhere from Pea Ridge Tree Farm a short drive across the river, to the wood
smoke that curls from chimney tops in this quiet little river town. In this
issue of our monthly newsletter, we at Hermann Hill open our doors to you in the
spirit of this season of joy and peace and wish you all the best in the New
Year.
At holiday time, even our resident canine companions, Fred and Gracie, get into
the holiday mode with festive turtleneck sweaters and antler head gear. As you
can see by the photo they are pleased and happy to don their holiday finery and
do so without enticing bribes of doggie treats of any sort.

Kristkindl Markt at Hermannhof Winery December
9th and 10th
It's Winter in wine country and German carols ring throughout town and the
church dotted countryside, on weekend and some weekday services you'll still
hear old carols and hymns popular with the early settlers of the area of
German descent.

Kristkindl Markets are in full swing. First weekend in December
is the Chamber of Commerce Kristkindl Markt held at Stone Hill Winery and
Hermann's
Candlelight House Tour, all tour homes this year are in the
historical district.
The second weekend in December
features the
Kristkindl Markt at Hermanhoff's Festhalle sponsored by the
Hermann Arts Council, a tour of the old 1915 friary St George's Rectory
happens on December 9th along with a performance by the
Columbia Handbell
Ensemble...
German School Museum on 4th and Schiller
The historic
German School Museum is a
major contributing feature in Hermann's historic district and this old school
epitomizes the importance society placed on educating children. Step inside and
you'll have a glimpse of the place where so many of Hermann's early townfolk
spent so many of their formative years.. A Christmas Exhibit of art, craft,
scherenschnitte (German papercutting) and fraktur (primitive painting) will be
featured the month of December. Their Gift Shop is also open and ready for the
holidays. Come visit!
